A youth guns down the man who killed his father at his 12 yrs.

A 12-year-old child who saw his father being shot and killed in front of his eyes repeated the act by shooting the assassin who shot his father after a lapse of seven years. Later, the youth handed himself over to the police with the gun. The Hambantota police said.

According to reports, the incident is as follows:

On the 21st of May, a person was shot and killed on Soochi village road in Hambantota. The killing took place around 9.50 that night. A 35-year-old father of one child named Kodituvakkuge Sagara, a resident of Hambantota was shot dead.

The police said that he was accused of many crimes, including two murders. The deceased, along with his wife and 4-year-old child, was shot at the mosque road in Suchi village, Hambantota, when he slowed down his motorcycle to go over a hump across the road. After the shooting, the killer fled. The police had launched an operation in search of the assassin.

Meanwhile, on the 29th, a 19-year-old youth walked into the Hambantota police station with a locally made 12-bore firearm. He is from a village called Bandagiriya in the Tissamaharama area.

The youth, who introduced himself as Chamod Nimsaraya of Manamperigama, claimed that he killed Sagara Kodituwakku on the night of the 21st. as the police were hunting for the killer.

Hambantota police arrested the suspect. Then he started narrating the story behind the shooting incident. In between the long statement, the young man told a shocking story to the police.

“Sir.. It was in the year 2016. I was just 12 years old. My father and I were on our way to the cattle shed, and that wretched man shot and killed my father in front of my eyes. “

“I was a helpless child of 12 years.” I thought that someday I would take revenge for this crime. After seven years, I got that opportunity. I shot and killed the man who killed my father in front of me.”

After recording the statements, the Hambantota Police proceeded to present the 19-year-old suspect to the Hambantota Magistrate’s Court yesterday (30) evening.

Hambantota Magistrate and Additional District Judge Oshadha Migara Maharachchi remanded the suspect until June 7.

Hambantota Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
