The final Randoli of the Kandy pageant takes the street tonight!

The final Randoli Perahera of the Sri Lanka’s world famous unique cultural pageant Kandy Esala Perahera festival will take the streets today (11). It is scheduled to begin at auspicious time of 6.35 PM

The Esala Perahera, which departs with the four great temple processions of Natha, Vishnu, Kataragama and Pattini, will travel along Dalanda Veediya, Yatinuvara Street, Kanda Street, DS Senanayake Street and return to theTemple of the tooth from Raja Veediya.

Then tomorrow (12th) the Day Perahera (Dawal Perahera) will depart from Asgiriya Gedi Viharaya at 1.30 pm and the afternoon procession will pass through D.S. Senanayake Street, Temple Road, Deva Street, turn from Raja Street and parade three times at Dalada Maliga Square and proceed to Dalada Mandi at 03:00 pm.

This year’s annual Esala Perahera festival will come to an end after Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela handed over the message stating that this year’s Esala Perahera Festival has been successfully completed to President Ranil Wickramasinghe at the Presidential Palace in Kandy tomorrow afternoon.

The fourth Randoli Perahera of the Esala Perahera Festival toured the streets yesterday (10) and the Sadhatuka Perahera Karaduwa was led by Indiraja Athu. Mianraja and Burma Raja elephants traveled as elephants.

Mahendra Ratwatta, Basnayaka Nilame of Kandy Vishnu Temple, representing Diyawadana Nilame of Sri Dalada Palace, joined the procession yesterday.
