Investor sought for LNG power plant in Kerawalapitiya

It has been identified that it is suitable to build a 300 MW liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant at Kerawalapitiya and to convert the power plant into an independent energy project under the Built Own Operate Transfer (BOOT) business strategy with private investment as a solution to the future power crisis in the country 

Accordingly, the cabinet has approved the proposal brought forward by the subject Minister to choose an investor through a competitive bidding process. The government expects the project to be completed in three years.
