The United States has carried out a fresh wave of military strikes against targets in Iran, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), which said the operations were conducted under the direction of President Donald Trump.

In a statement posted on X and reported by Al Jazeera, CENTCOM said American forces targeted Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communication networks, and air defense installations across several locations in Iran. The military command stated that the strikes were intended to protect US personnel and safeguard international commercial shipping routes in the region.

According to CENTCOM, precision-guided munitions were used against sites that were considered a threat to US forces and vessels operating in regional waters. The command described the action as a response to what it called Iran’s ongoing hostile activities and stressed that US forces remain prepared for further operations if necessary.

Meanwhile, Fox News reported that President Trump issued a stark warning to Tehran, saying additional US military action could take place as early as the next night if Iran refuses to accept a proposal presented by American negotiators.

Trump told the network that the recent operation involved the launch of 49 Tomahawk cruise missiles against targets inside Iran. Some of the strikes reportedly occurred within about 64 kilometers (40 miles) of the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The president also said US fighter aircraft are continuing operations over Iranian airspace, focusing on radar installations and air defense systems in the country’s southwest, near the Persian Gulf.

The latest developments mark a significant escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns about the possibility of a broader regional conflict.
