Piyal Manamperi, a former Pradeshiya Sabha member of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), has been arrested in connection with the discovery of approximately 50,000 kilograms of chemicals used in the manufacture of the drug “Ice,” which were buried in a house in the Thalawa area in Middeniya.
The discovery was made during an operation carried out by the Western North Criminal Investigation Division yesterday (05).
Meanwhile, the SLPP announced that the party membership of Sampath Manamperi, the brother of Piyal Manamperi, has been suspended with immediate effect.
