Bank Holiday Declared for Domestic Debt Restructuring in Sri Lanka

Central Bank Governor Ensures Safety of Deposits during the Process

The Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, announced today (25) that a long bank holiday will be observed from June 29th to July 03rd in order to facilitate the crucial domestic debt restructuring process in Sri Lanka. Additionally, it was revealed that June 30th will also be a bank holiday.

In his special statement, Dr. Weerasinghe assured the public that no deposits in any bank across the country will be jeopardized during the restructuring process. The announcement aims to provide the necessary time and resources to effectively carry out the restructuring of local debt.
