Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda says that the Peliyagoda fish market will be opened soon. According to him, retail trade will be stopped completely and the wholesale trade will be maintained at 25 percent at the beginning.
The Ministry of Fisheries has appointed an expert committee to look into the cause of the spread of the Covid epidemic at the Peliyagoda fish market.
Dr. Manoj Peiris, the head of the expert committee, had said that there were eight special issues identified during the investigation. He said that the fish market would be opened in collaboration with the Urban Development Authority and a new access road would be constructed.
