Mahindananda gives Police six page report 

Officers of the Special Unit probing into sports-related offences had obtained a statement from Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage yesterday (24) over his allegations that matches were fixed during the 2011 World Cup held in Mumbai, New Delhi. 

At the time Mahindananda had also provided the investigators with a six-page report of his own. Addressing a press conference in Nawalapitiya, Aluthgamage said all relevant information and documents to support his claim was included in that report handed over.

According to him, the match-fixing allegation is not one only he has made and the whole world is paying its attention to the issue 

He also pointed out that among the countries accused of match-fixing is the Sri Lankan cricket team as well. “I do not wish to address this issue further through the media because there is an investigation being conducted now” he added. 

He also revealed that he had sent across a letter requesting former Minister of Sports Harin Fernando to carry out an investigation into the match-fixing allegations. 

The statement had been obtained from the Minister at his office in Nawalapitiya by SSP Jagath Fonseka and his team. The Police Media unit said investigations will be conducted based on this statement.
