About a dozen opposition parliamentarians are currently preparing to join the government and have demanded monetary benefits in addition to the ministerial posts reliable political sources told Lankasara.
According to these sources, the Opposition MPs have demanded additional privileges as well as large sums of money along with cabinet ministerial posts, state ministerial and deputy ministerial posts from the government representatives involved in the talks.
Accordingly it is reported that the government has agreed to give seven cabinet, state and deputy ministerial posts to the MPs who have expressed their willingness to join the government, but this has created a situation where they are demanding for more.
It has now been revealed that the government does not have enough seats to pass the 20th Amendment to the Constitution by a two-thirds majority. Due to this situation, the demands of the opposition MPs who are hoping to join the government are also increasing.
