The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (01) said the Sri Lankan Embassy in Mayanmar is in constant touch with the Sri Lankans in Myanmar to check on their wellbeing after the Military coup that has taken place in the country.
Ministry sources said the Embassy has informed that while they are in touch with Sri Lankan citizens it is also ready to assist any Sri Lankan who is in need of support. “So far there have been no reported cases of violence or riots in the country,” the Ministry Spokesman said.
Around 200 Sri Lankans are reportedly living and working in Myanmar. Prof. Nalin De Silva is the current Sri Lankan Ambassador to Myanmar.
