Ramzy Razeek, a retired government official and social media commentator has been granted bail by the courts after being incacerated for 161 days. He ws arrested under the ICCRP by the Police and has been detained since 9 April 2020 without charge.

He was arrested on 9 April at his home in Polgasdeniya, off Katugasota in Kandy by three officers from the CID for a post dated April 2 he put up on his Facebook wall about the need for ideological jihad or ideological struggle (චින්තන ජිහාදයකට / මතවාදී අරගලය). Razeek has been known for being a consistent advocate against racism and promoting communal harmony, equality and justice.

Suffering from several medical complications, his family had expressed their cocerns about his health conditions in the overcrowded and unhygienic prison facilities. Amnesty International released a statement saying he was detained for peacefully exercising his right to freedom of expression and that he must be immediately and unconditionally released, and all charges against him dropped.
