Political sources say that Diana Gamage, a Member of Parliament for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya National List, is campaigning among MPs to vote in favour of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution in Parliament today.
Political sources told Lankasara that she is currently in discussions with the parliamentarians and that her husband Captain Senaka Silva is also involved in this.
She had not attended the meeting held in the afternoon led by Sajith Premadasa and is expected to vote in favour of the 20A taking side of the government.
In addition, Ratnapura District MP Hesha Vithanage and Badulla District MP Chaminda Wijesiri were also present at the ruling party meeting this morning amid rumors that they would vote for the 20th Amendment.
However, political sources say that some members of the ruling party, as well as members of the opposition who are currently opposed to certain clauses of the 20th amendment, may change their views following the discussions to be held this evening.The sources further said that some of the MPs could be a member of the Muslim Congress, two members of Palani Digambaran’s party and three members of the Samagi Jana Balawega.
