Businessman Dhammika Perera was sworn in as a Member of Parliament today (22) before the Speaker amid protests by a group of SLPP MPs.
Business tycoon Dahmmika Perera was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of ex-finance minister Basil Rajapaksa from Parliament. However, a group of SLPP members objected to the appointment of Dhammika Perera.
Dhammika Perera decided to take the oath soon after the Supreme Court court rejected petitions filed against his appointment that he could not fill the vacancy created by Basil Rajapaksa’s resignation.
Meanwhile, Parliament will be adjourned from today until July 4 due to the fuel crisi
