The wife of former intelligence chief Major General Suresh Salley Manory Salley says her husband remains determined to continue his fast unto death despite repeated appeals from family members to end the protest. She has urged the public to call on the authorities and the government to ensure that he is treated humanely.
Speaking to the media outside the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (7), after visiting her husband, Mrs. Salley said that Major General Salley had served the country for 38 years and made significant personal sacrifices in the line of duty.

She stated that despite her family’s efforts to persuade him to abandon the hunger strike, he remains committed to protesting what he believes is an injustice.
Mrs. Salley further alleged that her husband, who is currently being held under detention orders as a suspect, is being subjected to inhumane treatment and denied justice.
His wife, son, and brother visited the CID today to meet the former intelligence chief, who is currently in custody.
Addressing the media, Mrs. Salley said:
“Everyone knows that my husband is innocent. What is being done to him is extremely unfair. It is very clear that he is being made a scapegoat at this time. Even the Judicial Medical Officer’s report has highlighted the inhumane treatment he has received.
“He has now begun a fast unto death and refuses to stop. We have spoken to him at length and tried to change his mind, but he is determined to continue because he believes he is standing against an injustice.
“My husband dedicated his entire life to serving this country. He was so committed to his duties that he rarely had time even to attend our children’s school events. After making so many sacrifices for the nation, it is heartbreaking to see him treated in this manner.
“We know who is responsible for this situation and for subjecting him to such treatment. I am deeply saddened, but he remains resolute. He says he is prepared to give his life for the country and will continue to stand against what he sees as injustice.
“He has always been a man of principle, and I am proud of him for the service he has rendered to the nation.
“I appeal to the authorities to transfer him to a hospital before his condition deteriorates further. Given his current state of mind, he will not ask for medical assistance himself. Those responsible must do what is right and ensure his safety.
“Please do everything possible to save his life. Just as Suresh dedicated decades of his life to serving the country, I believe this is the time for the public to stand by him. If anyone could sacrifice his entire life for this nation, it is Suresh. I ask everyone to support him and help ensure that justice is done.”
